THE LAST PUERTORICAN SOCIAL CLUB
Toñita´s is the last Puertorican Social Club in South Williamsburg, Brooklyn. After the area has been taken by gentrification and harsh development, the club, opened in 1973, has become the epicenter where the Caribbean community organizes against displacement. This place also has a symbolic value: a piece of Latinamerica for young and old immigrants that visit this site to remember “who we really are.”
